In Memory of Julia Patricia Murphy

Julia-Murphy.JPG

Julia Patricia Murphy, 97, of West Hartford, CT entered into her eternal rest on August 27, 2022. Born at home on March 12, 1925, to James and Hannah (Murphy) Chambers, she was raised along with her sister and brother by a loving mother in North Cambridge, MA. She graduated from St. John’s School in the Class of 1943 and wed Daniel Murphy in 1950. Julia was the model for all mothers and grandmothers and met God with the same strength and faith that was the standard for her days on earth. She was a wonderful mother, raising five children, and later thoroughly enjoyed being part of her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s lives.

After raising her children, Julia began a long career as a bookkeeper with newspapers at The Gannett Company in Westchester County, NY and the Eagle-Tribune in North Andover, MA, from which she retired at age 75. Julia moved to Farmington, CT in 2011 and became a parishioner at St. Peter Claver Church in West Hartford, CT, residing at Hughes Health and Rehabilitation in West Hartford for the last two years. The family is especially grateful to the Hughes staff, who lovingly cared for her, and to Father Terry Kristofak of Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center, who visited her on Sundays, praying with her over the Holy Eucharist.

Julia is survived by her children Patricia (Zaki) Chowdhury, Daniel (Patricia) Murphy, Karen (Serge Agudow) Tursi, and Julianne (Barry) Bloom; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and former son-in-law John. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Eileen, brother James, daughter Mary, grandson Drew, and former husband Daniel.
